WEEK 1: B.R.B.D- What is a Disciple?

A disciple is one who has believed in Jesus for eternal life and is following Jesus with their lives.

18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him. 21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.   Matthew 4:18-22

Why do you think Jesus chose Peter? Was it because of his talent for fishing? Or the way he could throw a net?

No, Jesus chose Peter to show it wasn’t about talent, that he could use anybody who is willing.   He could have very easily gone and chosen a religious high priest, but no, he chose the fisherman Peter.

Takeaway: Have you believed in Jesus for eternal life?  Do you know that He is your Savior?  If so, are you ready to leave your “net” behind and follow Jesus?  What's stopping you from following Him with everything that you've got?
