Believe

in Jesus

the essentials

Talking to your child about who Jesus is and what Jesus did is one of the most important things you can do as a parent.    As you talk to your child, lead them to see their need for a Savior and what Jesus did so that they will respond by believing in Him.  Here are the essentials:

  • We all need a Savior because everyone sins and is separated from God because of this sin. (Romans 3:23) Jesus is the Savior that rescues us from sin.
  • Even though you sin, God loves you and made a way for you to be with Him.  He sent His Perfect Son Jesus to earth and He took the punishment for your sin by dying on the cross.  The good news is that Jesus did not stay dead.  God brought Jesus back to life and now God invites you to believe Jesus died for you and God raised Jesus back to life. (John 3:36)

When you believe, you mark this with prayer. Jesus, I believe in You.  I believe You died for my sin and rose again.  Thank You for forgiving me and giving me life with God forever.   In Jesus' name, Amen.

Talk About It

As you talk to your kid(s) about what it means to believe in Jesus, use these questions as a guide.

  • Why do you need a Savior?
  • What do you know about Jesus?
  • What did Jesus do to be your Savior?
  • Are you ready to believe in Jesus?

Next Steps

It's time to celebrate.  Tell everyone you know that you believe in Jesus.  Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your small group leader.  Let others know that Jesus is your Savior and can be theirs ,too!  One way to do this is to make your plan to get baptized.  If you are ready for that next step, look here for a quick guide on what you do now.
