Just So You Know

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?  ROMANS 8:31-32

If God has already given us his Son, if he’s done that for us, will he hold back anything else that we truly need? The answer is no. If he’s given us his Son, he’s given us the best that he has. He’ll hold nothing back that his people need.

There is Nothing That Will Change God's Mind About You
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.  ROMANS 8:33

34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. (The devil can’t, your guilty conscience can’t, WHY?) Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.  ROMANS 8:34

One Verse:  The Gospel - Our Hope:  Jesus came.  Jesus died.  Jesus was raised again.  Jesus ascended back to heaven.  Jesus intercedes on our behalf.

There Is Nothing We Can’t Face by Faith with the Lord Jesus
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  ROMANS 8:35

Who can separate us from the love of God? The answer is no one because Christ is not fickle! Those he saves, he saves forever. Sometimes Christians worry about whether their faith is strong enough to take them to heaven. They get scared and say, “I’m hanging on to Jesus. But what if I lose my grip?” That can happen. If your salvation depends upon your hanging onto Jesus, you could be in trouble.

What can separate us from the love of God?  Look at Paul’s list of seven things that somebody might think can separate us from the love of God. He says, what about trouble? No. Hardship? No. Persecution? No. What about famine? No. Nakedness? No. Danger? No. Sword? No. All these things could happen to the people of God but none of them can separate us from the love of God.

36 As it is written:  “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.  37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  ROMANS 8:36-37

Verse 37 says we are more than conquerors. That’s five words in English. In Greek it’s only one word. But it means super-conquerors. We are super-conquerors through Jesus Christ who loved us.

What does that mean? Number one: We are conquerors. That means we can face anything the world has to throw at us. Had a bad week? You’re a conqueror. Facing a bad week? You’re a conqueror. Hard times ahead? You’re a conqueror through Jesus Christ. No matter what may be thrown at you, you are a conqueror if you are joined by faith to Jesus Christ.

There is Nothing That Can Rip Us From The Rolls of Heaven

38 For I am convinced… ROMANS 8:38

Paul, are you sure about that? You speak so confidently. How can you be so dogmatic? Isn’t there something somewhere that could possibly, somehow, someway separate us from the love of God?” Good question. To answer it Paul sets forth 10 possible things that might separate us from the love of God. These 10 possibilities are set forth in four sets of two each, with two items set off by themselves. Taken together, they encompass everything in the universe. He includes every imaginable realm of existence.

38...that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  ROMANS 8:38-39

Nothing, once we put our faith in Jesus can separate us from His love.  Sometimes people say, “But what if I want to separate myself from God’s love?  What if I take myself out of God’s love?  What if I decide to separate myself?  What if I decide I don’t want to be saved any longer?  What if I decide I don’t want to be justified any longer?  What if I decide that I want to be un-saved, un-born again, un-justified?  Can I take myself away from God’s love?” Good question. Look again at the text. It says, “Any created thing.” Are you a created being of God? The answer is yes. Then EVEN YOU can’t even separate yourself from God’s love.

Why? Because those whom God saves, he saves forever. Those whom God justifies, he justifies forever. If you by faith have come to Jesus Christ for salvation, he will never cast you out and he will never allow you to cast yourself out.
