Best Day Ever

On Easter, we celebrate the best day ever.  Think about all of the good days in your life.  Think about the days when you may have exclaimed, “This is the best day ever!”  The day that you graduated from school was a good day, but not the best day ever.  The day your kids were born is a good day, but not the best day ever.  The day that you got your dream job was a good day, but not the best day ever.  So, what makes Easter the best day ever?  Easter is the day that we celebrate that Jesus died and was raised again from the dead.   Easter is the day that we know that new hope and new life are possible!

Some people have a hard time believing the day that Jesus died was a good day let alone a part of the best day ever. Who celebrates a death? Christians do because Jesus’ death shows us that God kept His promise to save the world and made the best plan ever by sending Jesus, our perfect sacrifice, to die the death we all deserve for all the sins we are part of.  We need to be saved from our sins because our sins hurt us on earth and separate us from God for eternity.   So, what did God do?  What was His perfect plan to pay for our sins?  God sent His Son, who lived a perfect life among us and then died a criminal’s death for us.  He paid a debt that He didn’t owe because we owed a debt that we could never pay.

We celebrate Jesus’ death because it is the only way for us to have a new life and the empty tomb proves it.  If Jesus stayed dead, then the loss of Jesus’ life would mean nothing, but because He was raised again from the dead, Easter is the best day ever.  Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, new hope and life are possible for everyone.   When we believe that we are sinners and Jesus is the only Savior, we have eternal life with God and are not separated from Him anymore by our sins.   We also are no longer powerless to sin in our lives.  Jesus’ resurrection and our faith in Him give us the power to see our lives truly change.

Easter also reminds us that we are never alone because we are now friends with God.  Jesus is with us no matter what we are going through.  He comforts us.  He strengthens us.  He corrects us.  He provides for us.  He leads us because we are now a part of His family.

This Easter, live with new hope and live in new ways because of all that Jesus has done for you!
