I Will Send My Church

PARENTING AFFIRMATIONS
My children are a gift from God.  Psalms 127:3-5, The way I raise my kids will impact the world. Deuteronomy 6, Matthew 28:19-20

READ MATTHEW 28:16-20
16 Then the 11 disciples went to Galilee. They went to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him. But some still had their doubts. 18 Then Jesus came to them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 So you must go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end.”  Matthew 28:16-20

Jesus sends us out to share our faith with others which means we have some bad news to share and some good news to share.  First, the bad news.  We are all sinners.  None of us are perfect or even good when compared to God.  That sin is serious business because the penalty for sin is death.  The bad news is that without Jesus all of us deserve death and separation from God because of our sin.  Now, for the good news.  Jesus came to came to earth for us and died for us to pay the price for our sins.  The good news doesn't stop there, though.  We can be saved (forgiven of our sins) if we believe in Jesus.

DISCUSS IT
  • Do you believe Jesus is your Savior?  Do you know that you are a sinner who can’t do better on your own? Do you believe Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross to take the punishment for everyone’s sin, and rose in 3 days to show that He was God and defeated the consequence of sin?  If you believe all of this, you are a Christian and since you believe, it is your responsibility to share this good news with everyone.
  • What ways could you make sure others know the Bad News and Good News of the Gospel?
  • Who is someone you can share that with this week?  What is their name?  Why do you think they need to know Jesus?
  • How are you going to share the bad news and good news?

FAMILY ACTIVITY
We are going to practice sharing the bad news and good news together.  Let’s try it in these situations:
  • Someone feels left out of a game at recess, how can you include them and share why you wanted to include them? (John 10:14-17)
  • Someone feels afraid, how can you show them how God helps you not be afraid?
  • Someone hurts others with their words and hands, how can you show them love and share how much Jesus loves you and them?
All of us face situations every day where we could share the bad news and good news.  By sharing this with others, we are helping them see the hope and love we have found in Jesus.
