Hello 2023!

Ready or not, here it comes. 2023 is here. As we step into the new year, it's a fresh chance to evaluate our lives, commit to the Lord, and see Him do new things in us and around us.

Paul's writing to the church in Philippians 3:12-14 comes to mind as we leave one year behind and step into a new one: 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

These verses remind us that we all have stuff to work on. If the Apostle Paul knew he needed to continue to grow to reach spiritual maturity, so do we. What was His strategy to do this? Forget the past and press on toward what is ahead. Pressing on to reach the goal of Christlikeness.

As you press on in your journey to be like Jesus, use this week as a week of reflection and preparation for the new year. Consider these questions and let the Spirit of the Lord lead and guide you.

  1. What goals do I have for myself, my family, my work, and my spiritual life?
  2. Is there an area in my life that I need to turn over to God so that I seek to do things His way instead of my way?
  3. What habits do I need to build or break so that I build the life that God has designed and I desire?
  4. Whom do I need to build relationships with so that I can share Christ or be encouraged in my own walk with Jesus?
  5. Have I been ignoring an area of life or a problem in my world that I need to pay attention to and begin action?

I hope that you can join us on Sunday, January 1, for our New Year's Day service. We will have family worship services at all locations at 11:00 AM.
