Jesus is our peace.

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  ISAIAH 9:6

In an ever-changing, chaotic world, we need peace.  Peace that doesn’t come and go with the circumstances in life, but peace that is permanent.  Peace that doesn’t end at the grave, but is eternal.  Peace that impacts every area of our life.

That’s why God sent Jesus - to be our peace.

Never forget:  Christmas is a season of peace. It is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.  Jesus came to earth to bring peace between God and humanity, and to teach us how to live in peace with one another.

1. Christmas reminds us of the love of God.
Unmistakably, Christmas displays God’s love for us.  The baby born in the manger - God in human flesh - came so that we could all know the peace that comes with the love of God.  Bible tells us that "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). When we consider the love of God for us, it brings us great peace. We know that we are loved and accepted, no matter what.

2. Christmas reminds us of the hope of salvation.
With the birth of the baby Jesus, came hope for salvation and forever peace with God.  This is the very purpose of Christmas:  Jesus came to earth to save us from our sins. He died on the cross and rose from the dead so that we can have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. This hope of salvation brings us great peace, knowing that we are forgiven and have a future with God.

3. Christmas reminds us of the importance of peacemaking.
Jesus taught us to love and to forgive others even when it’s not easy.  This is known as peacemaking.  Christmas is a great season to make peace with others because we have peace with God.  Let loose of the pains of the past because you have the peace of Jesus. When we practice peacemaking, we bring peace to ourselves and others and step into new opportunities for healthy, changed relationships.

4. Christmas is a time for family and friends.
Christmas is a time to come together with loved ones and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. When we keep Jesus central to our celebration, time with family and friends is one of the most powerful, memorable ways that we experience the peace of Christmas.  Enjoy the season and make memories because Jesus is your peace!
