Oct 2: The Parable of the Good Samaritan

Bible Passage: Galatians 5:22, Luke 10:30-37
Big Idea: Goodness is a fruit of the Spirit
Leader Context:
Goodness is a fruit of the Spirit. Goodness can seem like a neutral word. “How was school today?” “Good.”  “How’s dinner?” “Good.” It’s a word we typically use to indicate something is not especially noteworthy one way or the other.  But God’s goodness is so much more than just “fine” or average!  In the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-37, we see a man who showed goodness by stopping to help an injured man, even when the religious leaders wouldn’t stop to help. This week your kids talked about goodness being connected to God and His character.  God’s  goodness is a character quality that means he is always good.  And he gives us the gift of overflowing his goodness.  As we pursue God, instead of being good, goodness will naturally follow.
