The gospel according to Matthew was one of the earliest accounts of Jesus’ life that circulated in the church. These early believers were first simply called, “Followers of the Way.” They weren’t marked by merely believing in a few theological truths, rather they were marked by being with Him, becoming like Him, and doing what He did.
In Matthew 5-7, we read one of Jesus's most known messages, The Sermon on the Mount. In a way, this sermon is His manifesto, His charter, and His declaration for a new way of life.
